52 Seductions – THE BOOK!

Lovely, lovely readers of this blog, I am past all excitement, because  I have been taken on by Headline to turn The 52 Seductions into a book!

I can’t tell you how delighted I am. You will not be able to hear, but this entire post is being written in a squeaky voice. I kid you not.

I spent the summer working on a book proposal, and over the last few weeks I have been managing unusual levels of discretion whilst four publishers bid for the rights. All of them were awe-inspiring as far as I was concerned, and their insightful comments about the blog had me walking on air. I have been horrified at the idea of choosing between them.

That said, I’m certain that Headline are going to be just the right fit for me, and I only hope I’ll be able to reward their enthusiasm & passion with a great book. Which, incidentally, I now have less than 3 months to deliver. Just saying.

We now have four seductions to carry out before the end of November, and after that I’ve been asked to take the blog down. I wanted to make sure that everyone who has followed me through this bizarre, wonderful and exhausting year gets to hear the end of the story; but after that, I accept that it’s best to avoid competing with my own book. I hope you’ll understand. I will, however, continue to blog at The 52 Seductions, but I may take a brief holiday in early December while I wait for the world to stop spinning!

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is thank you, thank you, thank you for all your extraordinary support over the course of this year. I have often been overwhelmed by the the genuine care I get via Twitter, Facebook and the blog. You have encouraged, consoled and – when I needed it – doled out the odd stern talking-to, and I could not have done it without you. Thank you again.

Enormous thanks also must go out to the fragrant (not in the Mary Archer sense) Felicity Blunt, my agent. Boy, did I land on my feet with her! And, of course, to the lovely Herbert, who is now spending most of his days wondering who will play him in the film. My vote goes to Daniel Craig.

So, who’s going to buy me a drink then?

And – ahem – do tell your friends to have a read before it disappears!

You can read the announcement in The Bookseller here.

  8. Well done! Really well deserved, you have put so much time and effort into this blog, and of course it’s such a great read.

Sorry to see it go off line, but as you say you cannot compete with your own book.

Daniel Craig and a Flip Hole? Now there’s a thought.

Are you going to remain annonymous or do the book tour?
